It’s easy to eat on autopilot, especially when we’re busy.
When you take time to experiment with balancing flavours; salty, sweet, bitter, acidic and umami, dialing up or introducing new elements can uncover some surprising new ways to enjoy old favourites.
One of my favourite combinations is honey drizzled over pepperoni pizza, especially hot, chilli infused honey.
The final result is a hot, spicy, sweet, salty, oily, crispy slice of awesomeness. Adding the sweet element contrasts and balances the salty savouriness perfectly. The oil from the pepperoni mixes with the dripping honey to give you even more sweet and salty goodness when you lick your fingers after each bite.
You don’t need to cook from scratch, try this combination or experiment with other flavours, even if you’re ordering takeaway.
